Best Management Practices

A Best Management Practice or BMP is defined as any "program, process, location criteria, operating method, measure or device which controls, prevents, removes, or reduces pollution." In addition to BMP's, there are local ordinances prohibiting certain types of waste water discharges.

Each day urban runoff pollution contaminates surface waters and increases the risk of flooding by clogging gutters and catch basins. The list below describes various BMPs that businesses and homeowners can do to reduce environmental pollution to the stormwater system.
